Beautiful jewelry on display at Pow Wow

Beautiful jewelry in creative displays are part of what draws shoppers from all over the country to Pow Wow. Some Pow Wow jewelers even mine their own stones.

A crystal lotus flower gleams in the January Quartzsite Pow Wow sun.

Rockhounds from all around the world bring their treasures to the QIA Pow Wow to show, sell and swap. More than 400 booths fill the nine-acre showgrounds, and unique displays fill the 10,000 square foot QIA community building. Come early and wear comfortable shoes!

Demonstrations include gold panning, wire wrapping, flint knapping, silver soldering and more.

Quartzsite Roadrunners Gem & Mineral Club hosts rock hunting field trips daily. Check out the schedule when you come to the Pow Wow.

Vendor criteria: Booths must contain at least 75% rock, gem, mineral or rockhound-related items. Choose your booth location and fill out an application.

The QIA recruits at least 300 volunteers to run the show. Cooks, day and night security, maintainance, cleaning and food service positions must all be filled for the Pow Wow to be a continuing success. Call (928) 927-6325 or e-mail us to sign up to volunteer for Pow Wow, or anytime. Come have some fun with us, lend a hand, make new friends!

QIA volunteers serve three cafeteria-style hot meals daily during Pow Wow, January 22 through 27, 2008, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. A special quick-serve vendor line is available for vendors wearing their Pow Wow name tags.

QIA volunteers offer a special preview Tuesday night before the Pow Wow for mobility-impaired folks. Need a ride? Call the Quartzsite Transit Service at (928) 927-4333.
